Aptitude marks one year of progress at the 2nd Board of Beneficiaries in Milan

The Aptitude consortium gathered at Politecnico di Milano on 5–6 October 2026 for its 2nd Board of Beneficiaries, bringing together 150 participants from more than 100 organisations across 15 countries to review the progress achieved during the project’s first year and align on the roadmap ahead.

As Aptitude enters its second year, the two-day meeting focused on the development of its four pilot use cases, upcoming testing and deployment milestones and the project’s contribution to a trusted and interoperable European Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem.

The first day opened with welcome remarks from the hosts and the European Commission, followed by a France Titres keynote on regulatory readiness for the EUDI Wallets. A high-level roundtable then explored the path to adoption across the travel, ticketing, mobility and financial sectors, highlighting areas directly connected to Aptitude’s pilot work.

Across the day, Work Package progress updates provided an overview of the work underway throughout the project, while an interactive session reflecting on the first year of collaboration created an opportunity to discuss achievements, lessons learned and priorities for the next phase. Dedicated Work Package workshops further supported exchange across the consortium, helping partners align on ongoing activities and upcoming milestones as Aptitude moves closer to testing and deployment.

The second day continued with further Work Package workshops before broadening the discussion to the wider European Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem. The programme included contributions from Politecnico di Milano and the European Commission, followed by a dedicated Aptitude × WE BUILD session on cross-consortium synergies. This exchange created an opportunity to connect the work of the two Large-Scale Pilots and discuss shared priorities within the evolving EUDI Wallet ecosystem.

The programme also included interactive and demo sessions, bringing the strategic discussions of the meeting closer to the solutions, use cases and practical work being developed across Aptitude.

Looking ahead to Aptitude’s second year

Across the two days, the Board of Beneficiaries provided an important moment for the consortium to take stock of Aptitude’s first year and define the priorities ahead. A workshop feedback session brought together Work Package leaders to share key outcomes and priorities for the year ahead, marking an important “looking forward” moment for the project.

As Aptitude enters its next phase, the focus increasingly shifts towards advancing its four use cases, preparing for upcoming testing and deployment activities, and strengthening collaboration both within the consortium and across the wider EUDI Wallet ecosystem.

Through its continued work on cross-border testing, technical alignment, compliance, stakeholder engagement and European values, Aptitude is contributing to the development of a trusted European Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem across Europe.
