Aptitude represented in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, through ANTS participation in global digital identity discussions

On January 20th, 2026, Aptitude Project Coordinators Florent Tournois and Philippe Nieto, in their capacity at ANTS, represented Aptitude at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, as members of the Global Digital Collaboration, hosted by the Swiss Government at the House of Switzerland.

Their participation enabled high-level exchanges on the future of digital identity and the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet), within a global setting bringing together public authorities, policymakers, private-sector actors and standardisation bodies.

During the discussions, emphasis was placed on the importance of digital sovereignty and trust upheld by states as foundational principles for a high-trust digital identity ecosystem. This perspective is particularly relevant for use cases where sovereignty requirements are highest, such as Digital Travel Credentials (DTC) – a secure digital representation of travel documents aligned with international standards. In this context, the work carried out within the Aptitude consortium requires close collaboration with international organisations such as ICAO and IATA.

At the same time, discussions highlighted that other use cases -such as anonymous age verification- involve more limited data disclosure and therefore different sovereignty considerations. Nevertheless, the protection of minors has emerged as a priority area driven by the European Commission, with concrete work underway on age verification mechanisms.

These exchanges underlined age verification as a promising area of collaboration between public authorities, private-sector actors and standardisation bodies and a tangible example of how the EUDI Wallet ecosystem can support both trust and usability.

By contributing to these discussions, Aptitude reinforces its role as a European Large-Scale Pilot actively engaged in shaping a trusted, interoperable and citizen-centric digital identity ecosystem, connected to both European and global initiatives.
