Aptitude at EUDIW Unfold #4: From Preparation to Deployment

EUDIW Unfold #4 Ecosystem, organised by France Identité, took place on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, at Le Forum in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, in hybrid format, bringing together actors from across the European Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem.

The event focused on the transition from preparation to execution, as technical specifications continue to mature, national wallet roadmaps advance and the European implementation timeline moves closer. With every Member State expected to provide a Wallet by the end of 2026, interoperability testing and concrete service integration are becoming immediate priorities for the ecosystem.

Throughout the day, plenary sessions, live demonstrations and breakout sessions explored the current progress of European implementations and ongoing ecosystem initiatives. A common thread across the event was the shift from concept to reality, with discussions highlighting initial feedback on interoperability, real-world use cases tested at ecosystem level and practical deployment scenarios.

A dedicated Aptitude PhotoID workshop further explored the role of PhotoID in relation to Digital Travel Credentials, with a focus on portrait validation, secure digital storage and verification of the Digital Travel Credential Virtual Component (DTCVC). Drawing on experimentation conducted under real-world conditions at Marseille-Provence Airport, the workshop highlighted how airport facilitation and border-crossing scenarios can support the transition from technical standards to practical, wallet-based services.

EUDIW Unfold #4 confirmed the strong momentum of the EUDI Wallet ecosystem as it moves towards operational implementation. As the ecosystem enters a decisive phase, Aptitude continues to contribute to the shared European effort to build trusted, secure and interoperable digital identity solutions at scale.
