On October 22–23, 2025, the Aptitude consortium met in Paris for its official kick-off meeting. The event gathered 300 representatives from 117 European institutions, Member States, research organizations and private partners across 12 countries — all united by one goal: to make the European Digital Identity Wallet a reality.
From Vision to Reality
Over two days of collaboration and exchange, participants explored the project’s roadmap and strategy through an ambitious programme of activities. The agenda featured 8 key presentations outlining the consortium’s vision, objectives, and upcoming milestones, alongside 8 Pilots’ Use Case workshops and demos dedicated to the main areas of work:
- Digital Travel Credentials
- Tickets and Check-in
- Mobile Vehicle Registration Certificate
- Payments and Banking
Each session helped identify priorities and foster collaboration between technical, policy and user-experience teams.
A Steering Committee meeting helped set the strategic direction for the months ahead, while networking and discussion sessions fostered connections, synergies, and a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Moving ahead
The Aptitude kick-off meeting marked a key milestone in the journey toward a trusted, user-friendly, and inclusive European Digital Identity.
Participants left Paris with a clear roadmap and a strong collective commitment to turn the project’s vision into reality, ensuring that Europe continues to lead the way in secure, cross-border digital identity solutions.
