From 8 to 12 June 2026, the EUDIW Unfold Interop Week brought together wallet providers, verifiers and ecosystem stakeholders for a week of interoperability testing focused on age verification within the European Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem. The event was held online, with a dedicated on-site proximity testing day taking place on 12 June at Docaposte in Paris.
As the EUDIW ecosystem moves towards more practical implementation, age verification is becoming one of the concrete scenarios for testing cross-border digital identity interoperability. The Interop Week provided a collaborative environment for testing how age-related credentials can be issued, shared and verified across different implementations and technical environments.
The event combined remote-flow testing with proximity-flow testing. Remote testing activities took place online throughout the week, while the on-site session in Paris focused on proximity scenarios, supporting practical testing of face-to-face and device-to-device verification flows.
The scale of the testing activities reflected the growing maturity of the European wallet ecosystem. The Interop Week involved participants and observers from 22 countries, with 23 issuers, 32 verifiers and 15 wallets represented. In total, more than 2,000 test combinations were carried out during the week, including more than 120 on-site test combinations involving 15 participating entities.
The Interop Week also served as a collaborative space to exchange feedback, compare implementation choices and identify remaining challenges for seamless cross-border recognition and acceptance. By bringing together different actors across the ecosystem, the event contributed to a better shared understanding of what is needed to support reliable and interoperable EUDI Wallet services.
Τhe topics addressed during the Interop Week are closely connected to Aptitude’s broader focus on secure, interoperable and user-centred digital identity solutions across Europe. Practical testing activities such as these support the development of a more mature and operational European Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem.
