Experience Europe: How EUDI Wallets Are Reshaping Travel and Mobility Across Europe

The online webinar “Experience Europe: How EUDI Wallets Are Reshaping Travel and Mobility Across Europe” took place on 18 September 2026, as the first sector-focused webinar of the EU Digital Identity Wallet Relying Party Engagement Programme.

The 90-minute session formed part of a broader programme led by the European Commission and the Large-Scale Pilots, helping public and private stakeholders understand the value of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet), identify strategic opportunities and engage with the emerging ecosystem. More than 400 participants attended the webinar, representing transport and mobility, hospitality and tourism, public authorities, technology providers and other stakeholders across the ecosystem.

From booking and check-in to boarding, hotel stays and border crossings, the webinar focused on how EUDI Wallets can support more seamless, trusted and privacy-preserving travel experiences. The session also explored concrete business opportunities, pilots already underway and practical pathways for organisations to begin engaging with the EUDI Wallet ecosystem.

The webinar brought together speakers from the European Commission, Amadeus, Lufthansa, Aptitude and the University of the Aegean. Anthony Carmoy represented Aptitude, alongside contributions from Norbert Sagstetter, Elisabeth Kotthaus, Michiel Sweerts, Francesco Aicardi, Matteo Mannino and Romana Trcalkova from the European Commission; Leye Yang and Patrick Squeglia from Amadeus and Lufthansa; and Petros Kavassalis and Nikolaos Triantafyllou from the University of the Aegean.

A key focus of the Relying Party Engagement Programme is the role of relying parties across sectors such as mobility, hospitality, tourism, payments and border management. The value of the EUDI Wallet will depend not only on its deployment across Europe, but also on organisations integrating trusted digital identity credentials into their services and user journeys.

The Experience Europe / Travel webinar was the first in a broader series of sector-focused webinars under the Relying Party Engagement Programme.
