On 29 January 2026, Latvia shared its experience and progress implementing the European Digital Identity Wallet during the Nordic – Baltic eID seminar (NOBID), held in Copenhagen. The event focused on the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW), Member State progress, as well as key opportunities and challenges related to its implementation.
As part of the programme, Latvia participated in a panel discussion on Member State progress, together with representatives from Lithuania, Finland and Sweden, sharing national perspectives and implementation experiences.
Discussions at the seminar placed strong emphasis on cross-border interoperability, user trust security, and the importance of ensuring that digital identity solutions are understandable, inclusive and usable in everyday life. Participants also addressed the implementation of the eIDAS 2.0 regulation, the readiness of the private sector, and risks related to fraud and digital security.
Broader topics included the role of business wallets in automating cross-border processes, the development of shared certification frameworks and technical and organisational measures required to ensure secure and interoperable digital identity ecosystems. Particular attention was given to digital inclusion, user awareness, and the need to strengthen trust in digital identity services.
These discussions closely align with the objectives of Aptitude, which support creating a trusted, user-friendly ecosystem for digital identity.
