What is Smart Ticketing & Check-in ?
This use case focuses on three real-life scenarios:
- Hotel check-ins — simplifying the booking and identity verification process for guests.
- Transport mobility — integrating tickets and credentials for air, rail, bus and sea transport.
- Student Card Pilot — testing a next-generation student card linked to the wallet for accessing facilities and benefits across campuses.
Together, these pilots demonstrate how the wallets can make travel and daily mobility faster, safer and more inclusive.
What Aptitude is testing
Aptitude pilots for tickets and check-in scenarios in full compliance with the EU toolbox, WP2 technical standards and the reference implementation of the European Digital Identity Wallet. It aims to demonstrate cross-border interoperability, enhance user experience, and improve accessibility for citizens with reduced mobility through wallet-based credentials.

How it works
1️⃣ Travellers or students receive digital credentials —such as tickets, passes or cards — in their wallet.
2️⃣ They present these credentials when boarding, checking in or entering a facility.
3️⃣ Each verification is done instantly and securely, sharing only the data that’s strictly necessary.
